HashKey's HK stablecoin targets trade, not gambling
What happened
HashKey has begun using Hong Kong's first regulated HKD-pegged stablecoin for live settlement of insurance and trade transactions along the Hong Kong-UAE corridor. This corridor handles an estimated $49 billion in annual trade. The move follows institutional trials and represents the first production deployment of a stablecoin issued under Hong Kong's formal stablecoin regulatory framework. HashKey, already licensed as a virtual asset exchange in Hong Kong, is acting as both infrastructure provider and settlement counterparty.

- Non-USD stablecoins target 24/7 cross-border settlement gapReap, backed by Payward and partnered with Visa, developing non-USD stablecoins across multiple currencies including Hong Kong dollar and Korean won is a direct response to the gap that conventional FX settlement hours create for cross-border transactions in Asia. For Philippine operators managing player funding or treasury flows across APAC time zones, 24/7 on-chain settlement in local-currency stablecoins removes a friction point that has kept crypto payment rails less useful than they appear on paper.…Product · Hong Kong
- BPI stablecoin pilot reshapes PH crypto paymentsBPI launching a stablecoin payments pilot for OFW remittances is the most significant institutional crypto move in the Philippines this cycle. A Tier 1 domestic bank building stablecoin rails legitimizes the payment format at the BSP level and signals that peso-pegged or USD stablecoin settlement is moving from fintech experiment to mainstream banking infrastructure. For iGaming operators running crypto cashiers, the read-through is direct: if BPI's pilot succeeds and BSP approves the model, stablecoin deposit and withdrawal flows will become bankable and regulatorily defensible in a way that third-party VASP rails currently are not, which changes the compliance calculus for operators who have been cautious about stablecoin integration.Product
