What happened

Visa has partnered with Dunamu, the company behind Upbit, South Korea's largest crypto exchange, to build stablecoin payment infrastructure. This follows a separate deal Visa struck with Shinhan Financial, one of South Korea's major banking groups. The two moves together show a deliberate effort by Visa to embed itself in the Korean crypto and financial system as a stablecoin settlement layer.

The Dunamu deal is notable because Upbit holds a dominant position in Korean retail crypto volume. Dunamu brings exchange-side liquidity and user infrastructure. Visa brings card network rails, compliance frameworks, and institutional credibility. The combination is designed to make stablecoin payments work within regulated corridors, not outside them.

Why it matters

  1. Visa and Dunamu Are Exploring Stablecoin Rails, Here's What's Actually Confirmed So FarNo finalized product, no chosen stablecoin, no launch date. Visa's new partnership with Upbit's parent company is a roadmap, not live infrastructure, but it's part of a real multi-market push across Korea and Singapore. Here's what the eventual settlement model could mean for Philippine operators, once it actually exists.Crypto
  2. Circle buys Tazapay; stablecoin rails consolidate fastCircle acquiring Singapore-based Tazapay for approximately $400 million in stock gives the world's largest regulated stablecoin issuer its own cross-border payment infrastructure in Southeast Asia without a build phase. For Philippine operators evaluating stablecoin settlement partners, this matters immediately: Circle now controls both the stablecoin issuance and a proven regional payment rail, which is the combination BSP-aligned compliance teams are most likely to accept.…Market · Singapore
  3. Morgan Stanley adds ETH and SOL ETPs after Bitcoin winMorgan Stanley launching ether and solana exchange-traded products, after its Bitcoin fund crossed $381 million in assets, is the clearest signal yet that institutional demand for the broader crypto asset class is real and expanding beyond Bitcoin. For Philippine iGaming operators running crypto cashiers or treasury positions, this matters because institutional product infrastructure around ETH and SOL reduces the volatility premium on those assets over time and gives a BSP-facing compliance argument for accepting them as deposit rails. The more immediate read is for operators still treating crypto deposits as a Bitcoin-only problem: player demand for ETH and SOL payment options is going to follow institutional normalisation, and cashier integrations that only handle BTC are already behind.Product
