Binance hack accelerates DEX shift: real or reflexive?
What happened
Standard Chartered analyst Geoffrey Kendrick published a note arguing that the Binance breach will accelerate user migration from centralized exchanges to decentralized alternatives. Kendrick specifically named Uniswap as a beneficiary and reiterated his price target of $100 for UNI by 2030. The Cointelegraph report was published on 30 October 2026.
The breach itself is the catalyst here. Binance is the world's largest CEX by volume. A confirmed security incident at that scale is the most visible possible argument for non-custodial trading, where users hold their own keys and counterparty risk at the exchange level does not exist.
